Hear ye, hear ye, the Crits are here!

Below are some how-to’s and reminders for the Gapers Block Crit Series starting on Monday.
How to register for the Gapers Block Crits Day-of: There will be at least ten open spots each night in each heat. The list is first come first serve for both heats. The registration table will be open at 5:45 every night and both lists will be there. To facilitate the process please fill out and print the registration form (USAC license-holders) or the one-day license and registration form (non-license holders).

The first ten will automatically be entered into the race. Every name thereafter will be on wait until final count of pre-registered riders is taken. Five minutes before race start come to the registration table, if a preregistered rider does not check in/show we will work our way down the list and fill the slots.

We only take cash or checks. Some numerical details: day-of fee $20 with USAC license, $30 for one day license, or $80 if you want to sign up apply for one year license. Subtract $10 if you’re a woman.

For day-of, please have: registration form (or get one from us to fill out), your license (if applicable), funds.

Preregistered riders should: BRING YOUR LICENSE. Check into registration as soon as they arrive. You are to keep the number you receive for the entire week. Every day you must check into registration and sign our daily waiver. Those who do not sign in will not be eligible to start. Please check in five minutes before your race is to begin, otherwise your spot will be given to those on the waitlist.

Registered riders, please: bring your license, check in each night, do so 5 minutes before race start, and keep your number all week.

Other info and what not:
To ride down: follow the Bike Route signs from the Lake Front Path. Lights encouraged.
To drive down: If you follow online directions you’ll get off the I-90 skyway at 92nd, the first exit after/before the toll, and pay $3 each way every day. Instead, we recommend exit the Dan Ryan I-94 at 63rd (exit 58B), go east on 63rd, south on King, and take South Chicago Ave. Left on 95th which leads into the park.
Parking: Enter the park via 95th. Go left at the ‘T’, you will take a scenic loop around the northern end of the park where there is a parking lot across from the Coast Guard station.
